Frequently Asked Questions

LASER HAIR REMOVAL

  • Most clients will get up to 80 % hair reduction with the recommended course and top up treatments as long as the interval is maintained.

  • Laser hair removal is considered a permanent solution with up to 80% reduction, although the hair eventually will grow thinner and not in the same volume as it used. The average touch-ups are one to four times a year, depending on individual needs and skin condition.

  • In some cases, we ask clients not to shave a particular area so we can see where the specific hair growth is. We would then shave it off at the clinic, but in most cases, we require all clients to fully shave the area to be treated as the laser needs the full focus of its energy right through the hair follicles and also needs to impact the bulb of the hairs.

  • Generally, laser treatment can cause some discomfort, but it is usually well-tolerated and many people find it to be only mildly uncomfortable.

ROSACEA

  • Rosacea is a chronic inflammatory skin condition that typically affects the face, causing redness, flushing, and the appearance of small, red, pus-filled bumps or pustules. It can also cause visible blood vessels on the face, a burning or stinging sensation, and in some cases, thickened skin or a bulbous nose.

  • The exact cause of rosacea is not known, but it is believed to be related to a combination of genetic and environmental factors, as well as abnormalities in the immune system and the blood vessels of the skin. Certain triggers can also worsen rosacea symptoms, such as sun exposure, stress, alcohol consumption, hot or spicy foods, and certain medications.

  • After a rosacea treatment, there are some common things that patients can expect to experience. These may include redness and swelling, sensitivity, bruising, and sun sensitivity. The results of rosacea treatment may not be immediately visible. Patients should expect to see a gradual improvement in the treated area over several weeks.

THREAD VEIN

  • Thread veins, also known as spider veins or telangiectasia, are small, dilated blood vessels near the surface of the skin that appears as red or blue lines or webs. They are called thread veins because they are thin and thread-like, and they can occur anywhere on the body but are most common on the face and legs.

  • Thread veins are often caused by a combination of factors, including genetics, ageing, hormonal changes, sun exposure, and certain medical conditions such as rosacea. They are generally harmless and do not usually cause any pain or discomfort, but they can be unsightly and may cause self-consciousness.

  • Treatment options for thread veins include sclerotherapy, laser treatment, and intense pulsed light (IPL) therapy. These treatments work by causing the blood vessels to collapse and fade over time.

  • The number of laser treatments needed to get rid of thread veins can vary depending on the severity of the condition, the size of the affected area, and the type of laser used. In general, multiple sessions are required to achieve optimal results. Most specialists recommend a series of 2 to 6 treatments spaced 4 to 8 weeks apart for treating thread veins with laser therapy. During each session, the laser targets the affected blood vessels and causes them to collapse, ultimately leading to their elimination from the skin.

  • No, spider veins and varicose veins are not the same things. Spider veins, are small, thins veins that are visible on the surface of the skin. Varicose veins, on the other hand, are larger, swollen, and twisted veins.

  • The most commonly used laser for treating veins is the Nd:Yag (neodymium-doped yttrium aluminium garnet) laser. This type of laser emits a specific wavelength of light that is absorbed by the haemoglobin in the blood vessels, causing it to coagulate and collapse. The body then naturally reabsorbs the damaged blood vessels over time, resulting in clearer, smoother-looking skin.

ONYCHOMYCOSIS

  • Yes, nail fungus is contagious and can be spread from person to person.

  • The signs of nail fungal infections can vary from person to person and may include: thickening of the nail, discolouration of the nail, deformation of the nail, crumbling or flaking of the nail, foul odour, and separation of the nail from the nail bed.

  • The treatment options for nail fungal infection include: antifungal medications, nail removal, and laser therapy.

  • The number of laser treatments required to get rid of nail fungal infection can vary depending on the severity of the infection and the type of laser used. Typically, most treatment protocols involve 1 to 4 laser sessions spaced over several weeks or months.

  • Yes, laser treatment has been shown to be an effective treatment for fungal nail infections.

  • Laser treatment works by emitting a focused beam of light that penetrates the plate and kills the fungus without causing damage to the surrounding skin tissue.

  • No, the results of laser treatment for nail fungal infections are not instant. It may take several weeks or months to see the full effects of the treatment, as the nail needs time to grow out and the fungal infection needs time to heal.

  • While laser treatment has been shown to be effective in many cases, it is not a guaranteed cure for nail fungal infections. In some cases, the fungal infection may return after treatment, especially if preventive measures are not taken to avoid reinfection.
